And probably yes, if a forum user happens to become a member, he is well advised to post responsibly. What's wrong with that?
Well, so far forum members got to vote on ideas/referendums, now it's just the official names club. Can you comment on KDE listing all GA members? You just stated this is secret?

    By itself...
Informing people is not the battle.
All you are doing is throwing news clips and articles ..
and saying something has to be done...
whilst complaining nothing is getting done.

People taking action based on information is the battle.

They need facts, not 'this guy is sexist, based on 3 tweets of women whom we trust', no due process in UCL, no reporter integrity to publish such a story without facts but based on tweets, lots of people just buy it, by informing Louise won this. So yeah, I expect people to act and make opinions based on information (twitter and OSCON bought into randi being anti-harassment, see where this is going?)

KDE agreed to publish the list, I guess.
We're publishing only usernames on the wiki.

Is it your wild guess, or is this information public for non-profits?

edit: just to be clear, transparency is a big thing in EU, you can FOIA (freedom of information act - request based on this) practically every body in EU, would love to have not a wild guess, but confirmation that anyone EU based can not request information that could be used for doxing. Some members here have my info (even paid 10$ for that bloody TM as I said I would, so council has it), but I trust our current members. If leaking my private info is just sending a snailmail/email request, no, screw that, unless you accept my name to be xxx and surname yyy, I'm fine with that, but EU probably not

MC eV is just a "eingetragener Verein" (registered association), not (yet) a NPO.

What about a simple 'NO' during registration:

Which stills does not answer FOIA, but good to know you are not obliged to be listed
