Did you happen to be listening to any audio right before you put the cover on?
I would suggest closing down all windows before going into standby.

The same happened to me, an I am pretty sure that wifi was not automatically switched off.

There is a wierd combination of events (that I was able to reproduce only twice) that keeps wifi on even if you close the cover.

..or could it b that the 3 green bars do not necessarily mean 70-80% power?
normally i use the 770 with wifi off, but the same thing happened to me,
even after having the accu 5x fullly charged and discharged...

Browser to blame or hardware?
I think I found the problem. If you have a browser open, say Google mail, and go standby, it drains the battery.
This is not nice. There is no reason why the wrieless is still on during standby. Bugs?

It might not be the wireless. If you have the browser open and the page has java or some other script that checks for updates/refreshes (like Google mail) it could be constantly trying to connect whether your wireless is connected or not. That could drain your battery.

I always found leaving the video player open and paused would also drain the battery with the cover on. The closing all windows when going into standby seems like good advice to me.

Altering that only to say "when going into standby overnight" seems like good advice, I agree.

I think the point is, this is a design flaw. It's not a phone, it's more like a PC, so the standby should be sleep and do nothing, no matter what opening programs do.

I've had it happened to me before. I might have had the audio app up. But it's quite random and I don't know what really causes it to do that. If you close all the apps before closing the cover it happens less. I did notice that sometimes the battery bar is wrong. I would have 3 or 4 bars after a day of heavy use. Then when I reboot the 770, it shows 1 bar.
