I do try my hardest not to be an incompotent ***** at my job... although, sadly, I will admit about 40-70% of my coworkers fall into that category. I dont know of a retail store ever being sent stickers like that... usually facory seals are hard to come by... However, I have seen where our techshop has sent a unit back for repair after it has been determined defective, and when the manufacturer sends it back, it has a new factory seal over the old one... I know that sony and Apple seem to be really bad about this... Just had a macbook pro come back today with a new keyboard in a "Factory sealed" box :-/
I've had the pleasure of buying two Nokia 770's - One from CompUSA online and the other on sale from Fry's Electronics. Both boxes had the circular transparent 'Nokia' sticker in the centre. Other than that, the boxes lacked any sort of cellophane outer packaging.
If the box has been opened you'll probably know coz the Nokia circluar sticker won't seal again.
I bought one and a friend bought one at the same time at a CompUSA in Michigan. Both boxes had a circular sticker over the opening with 'Nokia' plastered all over it. His was opened and lo and behold the memory card was already installed, it was already configured, and the manual had been thumbed through.
That's your seal. But again, how accruate it is, is something you'll have to decide
The box my 770 came in had the circular, transparent Nokia sticker sealing it. Everything appeared to be untouched inside. Oh yeah, and there aren't any hair-line cracks in the plastic that surrounds the bottom ports on the 770... none yet, anyway ;-)
I've spent a few days with the 770, now, and I think it's awsome.
After being a user of Psion palmtops, which were minimalistic in UI controls and had a mutli-tasking OS, the 770 is easy to use and like.
I'm very impressed with the integration of the Bluetooth functionality and the ability to browse and manipulate the files on my Nokia 6682's memory drives.
So far I've upgraded the OS to the latest build, put the browser through it's paces with multiple windows open, configured the email app, transferred pictures and videos from my 6682 via BT and viewed them on the 770's bright and crisp display, connected to the internet via WiFi and Bluetooth.
I really wish Nokia included PIM apps, so that I could retire my Palm. Maybe I should just use my 6682 for PIM... now that's an idea.
