Just FYI popular word for excrement is now asterisked even when typed with a bang, nanny state is just the beg!nn!ng
On a more serious note about the word you probably meant, for those us with Spanish keyboards, an inverted exclamation mark which closely resembles an "i" can still be used to bypass the filter, or simply use the 5-letter variant instead.
As is the three-letter word for a donkey with dollars for esses. What a load of ****!
That's quite odd considering the original (donkey) definition of this word is not offensive, yet the English spelling for the offensive version of this word is permitted.
The swear filter is clearly broken. I've gotten away with using a variety of swear words on TMO. You'll never win. Just get rid of the filter instead. We don't need to be nannied. 90% of the time it's obvious anyway what the asterisked word is supposed to be. Does censorship really make TMO a better or safer place?
The funny thing is, this sensitivity to common character substitutions is a new thing. In other words, someone actively maintains the filter. So the "not our fault, naughty Nokia hard set it up" excuse is a load of crapolla.
I would have imagined that maintaining the filter would go down the route of relaxing or removing it altogether, not tightening it up. Hand up, whose clever idea was it?

It's not offensive in English. It's only offensive in US English.
On the plus side though, most US English swear filters allow us Brits to swear like a Guy Ritchie movie.
