The world does not need people like this in any kind of position of authority in any country.
True. But why do countries have, develop new ones? They are equally stupid.

Dude1. That guy over there has 5 nukes. We have only 2 let's build 3 more.
Dude2. Hey. They have the same amount as us. Let's build 5 more. We need 10.
Dude1. Wtf they have 10. Must have 11...
All Dudes. Lets build the Biggest nuke ever!

Will not end well for us that's for sure.

But when this alien shows up and wants to pick a fight with humanity we just send will smith and that other dude to the mothership with nuke and case closed. So nukes are not all bad.

    BR,
    Duke Nuke'em

    The more likely scenario is;

    1. aliens come tho our solar system and greet humanity.
    2. aliens learn that humans have nukes.
    3. being peaceful and technologically more advanced than us, they promptly decide to wipe us out before we became a galactic menace.

Nope. The aliens come here, find us still faffing around with such stone age technology and die laughing. Humanity saved.

You're probably right about the stone-age tech, but I think it is the intentions that count ---> humanity seen as poisonous insects, hence quickly and humanely snuffed out.

You do not become the dominant species without aggression. Likewise you do not cross the galaxy without expecting to get something out of it. I would be very surprised if any aliens turned up at our doorsteps bearing gold, myrrh and frankincense.

A post-scarcity civilization would potentially be able to look past conquest and know how to coexist whereas our culture knows none of that.

Yep, probably are so supperior that they not even notice us. Like human vs ant. They might steal some energy from the sun before continue to the front and the battle vs dark matter.

That sounds like the plot of a certain book I read as a teenager
Still one of my favourites. Miles above anything the Western Sci-Fi has to offer.
