I feel the fat lady is singing, well she might if she was not drunk on egg-nog, or buried over her head in the snow.
I dont think Jolla is ever going to ship any other tablets
Jolla is a first and foremost a software company NOT hardware, as they have said Sailfish is its "crown jewels", it is how it generates income, now and in the future. (One reason it will never be released as "open Source" as far as a tablet goes)
The original phone has done its job, Its got the app store The original 200-300 tablets shipped have shown that Sailfish can be ported to any screen size device.
But now the whole tablet saga has become dead weight for them. They very nearly made it but sadly failed to delivery. Now they dont care.
I think in the new year. those who have purchased Tablets via the shop will be offered either a refund or an offer on a Jolla2 phone. This phone will, running Sailfish be made by someone else but not Jolla, Whatever the deal these people will not be offered a tablet.
I think Jolla will be forced to do this ONLY as a legal requirement
Those of us who supported via indigogo, will again be ignored in this "new and exciting deal" It will be a continuation of the "soon" posts for us.
The months will go by..
A new phone, a newer OS, new partners will all go ahead - how wonderful it will all be!
The original backer will still be waiting..
What will happen for us?
NOTHING!
The Indigo-go campaign failed. They are not "legally " entitled to make any returns. Jolla can probably pay off a decent chunk with some non-tablet based offer. Maybe a car sticker (do not use in the wet) or a badge for supporting Joll (both made in China) How many unhappy customers left a 500, a 1000?
Sailfish will be off the ground and selling well in India and Russia and around the world. "Jolla hardware" oh that was another company. That got sold off, lost down the back of the sofa The longer time goes past, the futher Jolla will sail away from the tablet, and the less our cries, shouts and screams will be heard...
Nope, don't want to deal with Jolla ever again. Just want my refund and I am gone.
I am tempted to start an IGG campaign to collect the refund for you just to make you go away.
With all the ups and downs around Jolla, the risks they are taking and the dedication of their staff, your postings from the comfy armchair are insulting and juvenile. You are a single voice and you should accept the fact that your opinion is yours and may not match mine or anyone else's. Interestingly, the TJC posting "just to remember" got a vote of a whopping -9. There seems to be a majority of people who use their head for more than a place to hang their ears. For me, that party is still on and I hope they will stringently focus on what they do best - the OS - and bury that stupid tablet thing altogether. Outsource that to Intex, Fairphone & Co.
It looks like you were a little late (Oct 2015) in joining the party, but non the less I appreciate your input. Both of your posts, though some may say were a little bit negative, were generally valid (as a view point).
I look forward to your next -
incitful, intelligent, possibly funny - possibly even weaving ice, water, snow , egg nog or seeming contradictionary conundrums into your narrative , always good for a laugh-
I'm with you after new year. But I'm not against jolla forever...just until they solve this scam.
Here is what I've got from them. Another template after probably 20 emails that I wrote:
Hello,
you have recently been in contact with us regarding a Tablet refund request. We apologize for the delay in getting back to you. This has been due to the difficult and unclear situation faced by Jolla, which in turn has impacted the Tablet project.
What we at Service and Support have been advised to share with you is that more information will be forthcoming about the Tablet project's status after the New Year. Decision-making regarding the Tablet project is a prioritized item on the Jolla Board of Director's end of year meeting agenda. So, once more is known this will be shared via the Jolla Blog and email.
Therefore, and in light of the above, no further action is required of you at this point regarding your refund request.
On a related note, some backers have asked about people who may have already received a refund. To this point, Jolla has only refunded a handful of backers, but this was by mistake at that point. Much of the refunding action was based on the understanding that funding would come in - it did not; mistake made. From here on out our aim is to devise a plan that is fair for all Tablet backers.
Finally, for any backers who may have previously received information from us regarding refunding options ("Option 1" and "Option 2"), please disregard this previous communication going forward.
We look forward to resolving this situation with you as soon as we can in early 2016.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Jolla Customer Care
Somehow, they are still sending templates and keep stalling something that should be done long time ago.
I am tempted to start an IGG campaign to collect the refund for you just to make you go away.
My behavior? I am not the one that is delusional regarding Jolla. It is like I am reading comments from Apple zombies, but this time it is Jolla talibans.
