I think they'll make the refund an option again when the surprise is announced. They just don't want people taking the refunds and running before they know what the alternative is. A lot more people would rather take refunds now over nothing, than wait for the announcement.
I think it would be fair if whole story was about few months. But It would be a year soon from the first delivery date promised. And I think it would be fair enough for people to get their money back already.
Their "soon" is too long once again. And from history with them — I do not see anything special they ever gave anyone for any of their f#$% ups.
They just want to buy some time for themselves as they need those money, though those money are not theirs in the first place!
Well, no, they haven't kept silent. I have to say they weren't very explicit, but if I refer to the message you quoted in your post:
In other words, no, they don't have enough money to refund all the backers. They will attempt to give everyone something, but you will not be getting all of your money back.
As Prometheus made explicit, that email was from the end of last year (in case you couldn't tell that from the content, where it references the then yet-to-be-held Jolla Board of Director's end of year meeting). Further clarification has been sought since the Jolla blog of 31st Dec, and no response received. Hence the fairly accurate allegation of silence.
though those money are not theirs in the first place!
Hmm, in the case of IndieGoGo campaign it is their money, and has been after the end of the compaign, but they haven't fulfilled the obligations related to that money.
Looks like Intex will be launching a new Sailfish phone for MWC late this February. I hope they won't be holding off on refunds until then so they can use that event to offer some sort of swap deal.
