It's bombing out for me to. I did an upgrade and then a reboot.

Whatsup-log.txt had one line "Creating MainPage Instance..."

Same here. Shows the "loading" icon, then nothing happens and closes by itself.
Currently using 1.2 PR1.3.

A little followup, i edited MyTextArea.qml and changed:
