Since the linux pedigree of android and all other custom roms based on android has been established in the previous posts , it seems Blackberry Priv will fit your spec. Has a keyboard and runs a linux flavor. Just kidding . Priv is as closed as an android can get.

And it still is! They moved on to... talking about wildebeest (gnu).

If there were any worthwhile alternatives to the N900, we'd be talking about those instead of stroking our neckbeards.

Somebody go back to 2010 and persuade George McFly to punch out Biff Elop.

of course there are some linux devices other than N900.
But NONE of them gives THE SAME LINUX COMPUTER FEELING like N900

I just tried uname - a and - o on an old nexus phone. Stock kernel. No root. Used terminal emulator and a version of busybox for unrooted phones by burrows apps. Again, it showed GNU/linux. Using no option or - s gave Linux.

    Also, my sequence of phones

    E72, N900 (2), N9, Note 1, Note 2, Note 3, Note Edge, Jolla (when in Europe)

I was wondering. As I recall, there was a version or busybox you could install on the N900. If you havn't installed it give it a try and then see what uname - a gives.

Actually, the N900 already comes with busybox, although I think there is an updated version available.

But I've been snooping around the Maemo archives to find some other postings of uname -a output, with some interesting results. Here are a few:

    Vanilla Maemo kernel:

    From psrkn:
    Code:
    Linux Nokia-N900-42-11 2.6.28.10maemo-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Tue Apr 13 10:48:47 EEST 2010 armv7l unknown
From Roky (also lucm and my own; this should be the latest stock kernel):
    Code:
    Linux Nokia-N900-42-11 2.6.28-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Fri Aug 6 11:50:00 EEST 2010 armv7l unknown
    Custom kernel variants:

    From biketool:

Anyway, spending too much time on this. But yeah, it looks like whoever builds the kernel can say whatever they like, from "Linux" to "GNU/Linux" to nothing (unknown).

I thing a Nexus device would be a good move for people who're still using the N900 nowdays. The fingerterm keyboard layout on SFOS is not bad at all. There's Debian chroot and mutlirom if you need to change to another OS for a moment.
