The issue is that "regular" rips just tear like hell. If you rip 640x352 h.264 for a device like an Archos 605 or iPod Touch, you can use that same great rip on an HDTV and have it be acceptable. I do convert them anyway, but I can't just grab one of my good rips... I have to plan ahead rather than transfer and run.

But back on topic, any javascript heavy site with an embedded video gets fairly sluggish. Its better, there is no denying that... but its still bad. I look forward to the next gen tablets for a "full internet experience".

So you're saying that I have to choose between tear-free video playback on a buggy version of the operating system, or choppy playback on a slightly safer version of the O/S?

And -- as an aside -- why did it take so long (assuming for the moment that buggy 2008 does indeed have smoother playback) for Nokia to figure out how to get something right that should have been done right on the first release of ITOS2005?

This site is not accurate in at least 1 point: sleep; it links back to ITT:

Which clearly states that it works, as expected.
I don't know about the exactness of the other comments, but the one about sleep is bogus.

I think there are several public open positions, maybe you could join and show us a thing or two ;-)
