Well dave ...
No worries about the sun or planet dirt...
Either we find a way out of this theoretical simulation ...to the "real" world ..(If it is in decent enough shape by now...goodness knows the actual progression of time between there and here...a great deal of time may have passed ...or very little...goodness knows too.. what it looks like...but I surmise that this and the potential 8 to 20 simulations above us ...and all they contained ...plant and animal and planterary bodies and natural laws ..here...weren't just randomly created...but specifically based on what we knew.. and had around us in the "real" world...)
Or...
We find a way to go deeper still and create the next simulation down....
Take everyone and everything with us and run...like we have before..
Macro exploration and settlement of this universe is costly in so many ways..
Micro exploration however...is much more efficient..
Its all the same in the end anyway.. eh?
Ach!
Gerbick...
Problem is.. the perfect candidate for political office is someone with all those qualities and training and study I mentioned...
And of course a very healthy desire to stay away from politics...
I believe the only leader you can trust...is the honest one...who doesn't want to lead...
Me...I would enjoy being a benevolent tyrant.. Machiavellian style...
So by all logical conclusions I must be omitted as a candidate from the post of office....
What we need to do...
Is find the poor shmoe who really doesn't want the job at all...
And press gang him / her into service....
He / she will do a great job for the community...
Until they go crazy...burn out...or commit suicide ..that is...
Then it is time to pick the next lucky shmoe...
That was pretty good. Compared to that, my responses to spam were downright mean. For example, something like this: "Dear XY, thank you for your resent update on the number of grenades and machine guns to overthrow your hated government. The shipment will be delivered the usual way. Please do not make the same mistake as the last time. Some of the cocaine you sent back as a payment was of poorer quality than agreed. I trust you that was not iintentional." I usually did not hear from the same sender again.
Well....
proper education...and I don't just mean ABC's ..but also of social and ethical values...essentially an education of how to be a decent citizen....is paramount...
and not just for politicians.... but for the population...the entire society...
A properly educated populace benefits everyone.
Ignorant populations end up causing untold damage...across generations ...since they imprint their ignorance on the next generation...
Other than the last two politicians we have had in Canada...(trudeau ..a school teacher...and harper..a very established economist...) ...
every prime minister we have ever had since the beginning of Confederation...were practicing lawyers....
They all deftly navigated the country...
we haven't had the issues and problems associated with countries who elect by pure populist vote.
Voting on the smile of the candidate ...so to speak...
rather than their actual competence to do the job...
In Canada the people vote the party they wish in...
but on top of that...
the parties themselves ...
internally they debate the issue of support or denial of support for those seeking leadership of the party...
safeguarding the good standing of the party ...of the office of the prime minister...and of the public...
so we don't have lunatics, madmen or buffoons running us all...
As well...if it is a minority reigning government ...then that means the other parties hold as much...(and usually across all the opposition parties) ...if not more votes in the House of Commons...then the reigning government must "work" with the coalition of opposition parties...else face the possibility of a snap election...
So we have pretty decent checks and balances to safeguard the people...
Doesn't mean we don't and haven't had our own scandals ..
but not to the degree other countries do..
Call me biased...
and I suppose I am..
but I think that Canada as example is a relatively good one ... a good example of purposefully electing educated people who can run the country competently...
Well....
proper education...and I don't just mean ABC's ...
This is the time of anti-intellectualism. Your points are not valid for the majority. I blame the aging population making long-ranging decisions that affect people after they're long dead.
Canada voted in Rob Ford. You have absolutely no room to talk.
