Thanks for all the help Sohil876.

Tried it out and it works fine - it accepts word completion and peers are automatically available.
Misses some of the ease of use of the gui versions, that was to be expected but this is certainly the fastest alternative for the N900. Some 'issues' - yellow words on a white background isn't a good idea.. probably better to start with argument -C.
With this version 'typing' isn't shared or visible.

Oh no.. I thought it was fixed..
    Code:
    *** Connect with 173.240.5.1:443 timeout
*** Can not create connection to DC. Is network down?
At the moment there is at least something that works consistently?

Can you push it to extras-devel?

Besides, I extracted it to /opt (don't want to poll my $HOME) and the app closes itself after a few seconds, with exitcode 1.

Its not deb but pretty simple to place, just extract into exact folder structure as in archive (ofcourse the folder structure INSIDE telegram-cli_v1.3.1 folder), then chmod +x the /usr/bin/telegram-cli shell script and opt/telegram-cli/telegram-cli . This one is without lua support, but ive enabled json support in this. You can edit and place/change all arguments in /usr/bin/telegram-cli script. For usage see REAME : https://github.com/vysheng/tg/raw/1.3.1/README.md
    Thx, this work for me

    I compiled the latest version.
    Seems to work testers welcome.
Changlog says 1.3.3 console output 1.4.1.

You will need the libjansson4 from extra-devel.
And maybe some other like libconfig8.

If you like you can make a backup of old files.

    extract the new ones
I had never telegram installed before, but what I can tell you about it now, it will save the options to /home/user/.telegram-cli

Are you keen enough to register at telegram?

    as root:
    Code:
    tar -xvzf telegram-cli_1.3.3.tar.gz -C /
If you like, you can make a symlink to the binary dir.
Have a look in the tar.gz where the locations are.
I put all generated binaries to opt. Don't know for what they are good for.

    Did somebody test the application?
BTW in my previous post I made a mistake in the extract instructions, sorry for that working to much and sleeping to short.

If somebody confirm that it will work, I could try to upload it to extras. It is compiled with lua5.2 support for the future I will also try to compile lua-lgi.
I have seen that Sohil876 has a start shell script maybe it is good to have a look at it.

For the osso xterm I found out how to set background and foreground color, maybe it is useful for somebody.

Choose your desired color code and...

    Code:
    gconftool-2 --set /apps/osso/xterm/background --type=string: "#000000"
    gconftool-2 --set /apps/osso/xterm/foreground --type=string: "#ffffff"
Here some interesting links for telegram and RPI.

Actually, uploading it to extras(-devel) might be a good idea anyway.
And I suspect quite a few persons are reluctant from manually installing from a tarball on n900 (I usually am, except if I built it myself and didn't bother building a deb package).

Still, thanks a lot for your effort!

Don't want to upload a broken package. I don't have experience in telegram, hence I cannot make an approval. Furthermore I don't need telegram. I am doing this that maemo hopefully reach a wide audience and try to bring more packages to extras. This is for me the only way to support maemo. I am not a millionare, I cannot code maemo to the next level, but I can clean up a little bit, writing tutorials and helping others.

I can upload the source so everyone could build it on there own. But if somebody would intend to do so, it would be already compiled and posted.
For me it takes much time to make a deb package, especially if the makefile install script is not working don't know so much about it. Patching is faster than debianizing. This is what I learned and know.
So when nobody really interested in this, I stop here I have enough other projects. Would be a nice challenge for me to fix the makefile and make a deb but I do not want to do useless stuff.

To moderators: remove "cloud-based, decentralized" from the topic title as it is not true.
