I just picked up a 16G card for my n800, but have a weird problem...

I pop the card in (it has about 10G of crap on it), and use SCP (ie, over SSH) to attempt to copy about 4G of stuff up.

It gets part way in (less than 1G), and then the n800 spontaneously remounts the internal card as readonly!

This is very very strange behaviour.

The only thing I should add is that I was previously using this card in my SD reader, which has a strange problem that it often detects cards as 'locked' even when they are not...

Does anyone have any ideas? (I haven't had a chance to go trawling through the n800 logs yet, so I don't know what I might find there...)

Try a low level format on it!
Download this:

Thanks for the pointer!

I'll have to try that if all else fails.

I ended up doing a 'dd if=/dev/zero' to the card, followed by sfdisk and mkfs.vfat, and it seems to be working (but only in my Nokia device -- neither Windows nor Linux recognizes the media.

I'm just copying stuff onto it again -- the problem only occurred previously when I passed the 10 or 11 gig mark.

However, I'm guessing a low-level format would do even more?

Anyway, thanks again for the pointer! I'll have to try it if all else fails.
