I upgrade my n800 to OS2008 last week. But after the upgrade, I found that I am no longer able to bring up the finger keyboard. I know that there is some problem using finger tapping in OS2008. But my d-pad option also doesn't work. In fact, when I click the d-pad central button, it seemed sending a "return" key to the application. I am sure that the using d-pad option is checked in the setting. Do any one know whether I miss some configuration?
The cluster of four green and yellow boxes along left side of home view.
"Settings"
"Control Panel"
"Text Input Settings"
"On-screen"
Box labeled: "Enable stylus input methods" (You want a check mark in these boxes.)
Box labeled: "Launch finger keyboard with finger tap"
If you use handwriting recognition tap the boxes so labeled.
Also, try pressing harder/faster. I find that works most of the time. Just thump the screen with your finger. It may not be your cup of tea, but at least it generally does work.

Yep, it works that way, hitting the screen with your finger. But I hate that, because finger recognition worked like a charm in OS2007...
You guys are right. It's not that the feature no longer works, but the sensitivity is at some ridiculous level right now. Just tested on Notes and the web browser and that worked with the finger stabbing.
What would it take for Nokia to get this right again?
I just simply can't get the finger tapping working no matter how hard I tap.
So I am focusing to get dpad working. I reset the text input setting. But that didn't work. the dpad
still sends the "return" key instead bringing the finger keyboard. Any clue?
