Yup...this whole wide world is doing very well by leading from good examples ...
why I think now ...that you guys mention it...
in just about every way and just about everyone is paying attention ...and doing the right thing all over the planet!

    hmhmhmhmhmhahahhaahhhaahahahha
god you two crack me up

    sigh...
I bet I sound a wee bit jaded...
but ...folks ..we are rapidly heading to our planet's 6th extinction ..
precipitated by multi generational abuse of this place...
I don't think we have been doing right for a long time...
and our time is running out.
corporate abuse is one small small reason.

You know... sorta like how FOSS meritocracy was supposed to work. Either it's bad, worse, or can be publicly shown how to do it right.

I feel that it's a better approach than rank skepticism with no real alternatives being offered.

It is just sad, pathetic and discouraging how always someone or group ..
has to try to corrupt a good thing..no matter what it may be

Exactly this. I find it somewhat disappointing; however far too many people want to just watch the world burn for their own enjoyment.

    THAT...
    I think...
    Is exactly correct...
Too many want the world to burn for their own enjoyment.
How does one even begin to fight such a ...a...mindset.. ?

I don't think this is necessarily the right interpretation. Even the word "corrupt" may not be 100% appropriate, let alone "watch the world burn for entertainment", even though in effect that is exactly what they end up doing. I believe that in many (most?) instances the corruptors act with genuinely high intentions. They really believe that they are improving things. Examples: all those "must have this, must have that" comments to Neo900 and Livermorium, Libre vs Open Office, certain voting results I will not go deeper into as it would be in breach of posting rules here...

    But FOSS/meritocracy works, doesn't it?
At least here from where I am standing it sure looks like that... or can you give me a counter-example?

I try to live by "show me working code and I'll respect you"
