I don't know how this is going to work but...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7256573.stm

Under the six-year deal, Universal will produce at least four films based on Hasbro's brands, including Monopoly.

The first film will be released in either 2010 or 2011, with one film a year after that, the firms said.

The partnership will include Candy Land, Battleship and Ouija, but not Transformers and GI Joe, which are licensed to Paramount.

No financial terms, or plot details, were released by the companies.

Wasn't the writers' strike supposed to be over?

I wonder who'll they'll get to play the shoe. Nobody, but nobody, ever wants to be the lowly shoe.

PS: Why don't we have a poutine-thread on this forum?

I posted about this on another forum and someone suggested the film could be about a "monopoly killer" who kills people in the real life locations of the board, then leaves behind an old boot, top hat, toy car etc to taunt the police.

The trouble is you'd have to film different versions for different countries as everyone has their own version of the board itself. The British board uses locations in London, the Finnish board uses locations in Helsinki etc.

Did someone say poutine?

The one place within a reasonable driving distance changed hands so it's off the menu. The only reason they had it on the menu is because the then-owner's wife is Quebecoise.

Anyways, regarding the Monopoly movie, I think my .emacs file would be far more compelling on the big screen.

Ahhh! Now I feel at home. I've tuned down my presence on the Newtontalk mailing list and I was really missing those emotional threads about soggy french fries (which should, for historical accuracy's sake, really be called "flemish fries") with foul melting cheese and undefined brown sauce dripping all over them.

Vi rulez!!!

I have to wonder about the Ouija movie plan. Jumanji pretty much defined any reasonable concept they could use... unless they take the horror angle and do something clever with it.
