I tried to download skype several times from OS2008, but each time I received a message "Installing not successful. Application pack is inconvertible with present software". I am a new user of N800. Do I need an account of Google Talk or Jabber? What to do?

You don't need an account with Google Talk or Jabber (you do need a Skype account however). Not sure about the error, is this a recent flash?

I am on my n800 OS2008 right now talking to my brother on skype who is in Mexico. He is on an n800 OS2007. He says he has saved enough money in the first month to pay for his n800. I sure have been communicating with him a lot more since we got our n800s with skype.

Greetings:

From the Skype Journal Blog Site, there is a link that now you can download Skype version 2 for Linux.

Would this Skype for Linux work with the N800 and 2008 OS?

This version of Skype has video feature.

Here is the link: http://www.skypejournal.com/

Skype has yet to relese 2.0 for the N8xx. Hopefully they will soon though, because is works very well. I talk to my Dad in California on Skype almost everyday, and yesterday after installing 2.0 in Linux Mint I called him, not only did the video work perfect, he said it was the best audio of all. I run Skype from Windows XP, Mac OS 10.5, and Linux Mint. Come on Skype, we are waiting with baited breath.

No it's not optimized for the tablet.

When I first got my N810, i had to flash with newest software which at that time was 2007.50-2, after that i just opened skype and it installed automagically, the only thing i had to do was to accept the EULA. I hope this helps you.

If you are using windows you can get the flasher software from Nokia here: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N800.php Just follow the instructions and you should be good.
