I was wondering. If Dave999 is really gone for good, did he write a goodbye post? Did I miss it? Maybe something along the lines of "thanks for the fish". Would be appropriate, seems to me.
I don't believe for a second that this place is all the more civil due to the absence of one person.
There are far too many uncivil people here for the absence of one individual's voice to make an impact.

Well...He paid into it...so he deserves to speak up..speak his mind, as long as he wishes ..especially if the issue took forever to get settled.
That was the start of the negative focus on Dave. ..
If it were me...and I was having problems with a start up I would have done the same..Have in fact done the same...
(I vented my displeasure quite pointedly on the neo900 fiasco. Every now and then something is said in that thread that gets my hackles up ...but I have been better at restraining myself lately ...I think...
I think I have gotten it all out of me...Not sure yet...give me a few years with no additional Bull***** coming to light ...and perhaps I can call it a day on the neo topic.)

Enough so, that he was banned in the past for no different behaviour than others here have done, and lastly threatened with another banning recently for the same offences others do and see no repercussion from.

Perhaps I did not express myself clearly. You are spot on, endso. I did not mean that Dave was the cause of bad blood on TMO, only that his sudden and unexplained disappearance mysteriously coincided with the overall toning down. It's almost as if the mere presence of some people irks other people enough to become more aggressive.
It may all be a coincidence, of course. Which is exactly what I was pointing out.

Sure...it is expected that every person in a community are going to be buxom buddies...
But there was a thing called restraint, understanding, compassion, civility and empathy.
On the whole...(not entirely or completely though) those aspects have been superseded by selfishness, ego, myopia, and other negative traits disguised as the right to free speech and the right to express oneself in society in general...
Just because folks have the privilege of free speech doesn't necessitate that their mouths must needs be constantly moving, spewing sewage the whole time...without thinking of the effects of their action and the impact and harm done to those around them....
That ...I think...is what we have seen creep into society over the last few decades more and more...
and is what Dave and his detractors are caught up in.

Well quite an honor to receive such a compliment but I am nothing next to Dave999. I am sure he would concur! Regardless, isn't it ironic that Huawei is banned from having access to Google Services yet at the same time they have had a policy of not allowing it on devices sold in China!
