What should be done with this file(s)?

Is the sms emoji reception problem still actual on cssu?

During 10 years with my N900, I thought I didn't have friends using emojis... but actually I might have lost all of them by not answering their not received messages

So, to correct this and keep the few remaining friends, what should be done now?

I tried to follow instructions but a lot of 404 appeared as the subject is quiet old...

    Reading, reading, reading, spoon feeding.

Just go back one page, read shubell's post, follow the link, read to the end, notice biketool's post at the end, find the install instruction (as well found in these two threads elsewhere), maybe follow the link to download the modified libsms-util deb and continue ...

    That is another question!

But I see this more as a solution to receive at least the text out of the otherwise lost SMSes. No more

You might not need or want to use emoji's yourself but it is good to know if a sender has sent you a happy face or a middle finger.

But even that is not the point (to me).
The point is well described in juiceme's post

    Ok, I'will read back there.
Don't be rude on me, I missed this one, was a bit lost between emoji threads, dead links and unknown things to install to be able to install...
Yes.. maybe, all this mess just for emojis... yes I might have been a little lazy.
So many other things to read and to try/do, only on TMO.
I spend hours reading here, +/- silently, this is true.
Sometimes, my eyes and brain cross and I ask for a torch, a clean on my glasses.

Aren't we all sometimes somebody else's spoon feeder?..
I try to give as much as I ask...or...try to ask as few as I feel I can give...
I am brave, not the bad one to blame much. Not the new user just asking for a quick and free solution without being able to write a capital or say thank you or use his brain.
But still, I hear your remark.

So please PLEASE please URGENT can someone quickly post the full solution for my fone i dont ges sms from my girlfriend and may boss please please it is capital

Not blaming you, knowing it is a pita to find all info...

But I did spoon feed you.
    Or not enough?

    Okay.
    Go here:
    https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...&postcount=140
    See the installation instruction
    sudo dpkg -i downloaded.deb
there. This may work if you have sudser package else just get root by
    sudo gainroot
    followed by
    dpkg -i deb_mod.deb

Please exchange the names of deb files and make sure to point to the correct directory where downloaded to (e.g. /home/user/MyDocs/...).

For activating the feature use _mod.deb else take the other one. Reboot.

Sure you did spoon feed me. My last sentence was humor but humor translation is tricky.
Anyway, your summary is welcome and I have no excuse now to be lazy, even for emojis. I have to try...
