Mythfrontend does not even start. It exits with the lines:
2008-03-26 18:35:01.097 Unexpected DB Schema version. Waiting to see if DB is being upgraded.
    2008-03-26 18:35:06.521 Timed out waiting.
2008-03-26 18:35:06.522 This version of MythTV requires an updated database schema. Please run mythtv-setup or mythbackend to update your database.

I am running mythtv 0.21 on Ubuntu 7.10 all of my other mythfrontends are running fine.

Make absolutley sure you are running 0.21 and not 0.20, I'm running 0.21 from the official ubuntu 7.10 backports repository and didn't have any problems. Also give some more context from the log - it should be saying the DB schema version somewhere there.

    Yani

Ca you give a few more clues about video please as I'm still struggling with the settings here.

Live TV will be a non-starter for me as I have 3 dvb-t tuners, but I am trying different transcoding settings. I'm now at 240x240 rtjpeg with 160 setting, and audio set to MP3 32000, and a quality of 5, and it dont work.

I'm getting lots of alsa_dsp_transfer() requested too much data error messages.

    Cheers

    Gaz

Try setting the bitrate for the mp3 to the lowest (32) and make sure you have extra audio buffering off. If you do those should be the same settings I was using.. make sure you run mythfrontend as root to use realtime priorities and make sure you set the playback to use xvblit/standard (ffmpeg)

Thanks gazza! I didn't have the patience to list out all my settings

oh and for the playback settings, I thought enabling the onefield interlacer made playback faster than using none, but let me know what you think.

I don't know where that DB error came from, but after I reinstalled my all mythtvbackend packages, mythfrontend on my N800 just works ;-).

    Thanks Yani.

Hey Yani, are you on the myth mailing lists? Have you thought about announcing your port on there, should generate some interest.

I'm not on them, but I was thinking about doing that, I couldn't decide if it should be the developer or user's lists though. I'd like to mainline some of the changes I made.
