I hacked up a battery powered hub for my 770 a while ago - see my original posts here - just scroll down to my posts.

I have the pictured keyboard as well as one of the even smaller ones that Mike Crane mentioned in several posts.

This setup is no longer working with IT2006 Beta.

After flashing to the 2006 beta, I put the device in USB host mode using the flasher (I had to use flasher-2.0 due to the "unsupported board" errors)

It seems to recognize the keyboard, but it does not work in any maemo app.

Interestingly, it _Does_ work in osso-xterm.

Also, backspace seems to work everyplace, and tab and enter work to navigate dialog boxes.

If I type in (for example) Notepad, the cursor behaves as if it is seeing characters, but prints nothing. As I said backspace will erase characters I input via another method.

What have they done? Is it some sort of a locality or xmodmap problem? Did they break this on purpose to try to stop 3rd party peripherals?

Please help, as I am working on a really cool peripheral (hardware) for the 770, but it relies on this working.

<bump>

OK, Sorry to bump my own post, but I have new info, and I am kinda supprised nobody answered this.

I have found out that in addition to xterm, my USB keyboard also works in webpages in the browser, but not in the URL entry field. As I said it does not work in most of the other built-in apps.

Appearently, either I am doing something stupid, and it works for everybody else or I am the only intersecting point of the circle of people using a USB keyboard and the circle of people using the 2006 Beta.

If so, is that because very few are using the beta, or because very few are using USB keyboards?

Most likely less people using usb keyboards than people using the 2006 beta...

but I could be wrong.
