To be honest, I don't think the average user will notice that much difference when comparing Opera to MicroB. They both render most sites without any problems, and at similar speeds too. I bet most people switching from OS2007 to OS2008 don't even realise it is a different browser.
Even if MicroB is slower than Opera, the OS2008 upgrade MicroB was bundled with increased the processor speed from 330mhz to 400mhz so that effectively wiped out any speed difference.
Some sites will render better in microB, such as Google Docs.
Google Docs doesn't render AT ALL in Opera! You have to use MicroB if you want to access Google Docs on the tablets.
Opera could handle Google Docs technically, but Google refuses to support the Opera browser because it has such a tiny market share.
I'm pretty sure this is the main reason Nokia switched to Mozilla/MicroB, because there are far more sites which actively support Mozilla (due to Mozilla being used in Firefox as well).
Hum... but google docs work on opera on the desktop, it may be auto masking as ff iv not looked through the overrides_downloaded.
As for copying accross the librarys, where would i go about getting these without os2007, as im using an n810 so cant even go back a version or about 4. or can a chroot env be setup to run off the internal memory card, if so are there any guides to this and still where would i get commpatible files or would it involve making a os2007 - n810 hybrid.

MicroB is due for an update anyway. It's using a fairly old build of Gecko 1.9 and there having been huge leaps and bounds in performance since MicroB's version. Hopefully this update will come with Diablo.
It appears there are more than a few of us that do not NEED to update to OS2008 on our N800's. I have all the programs I need/want working. I am satisfied with the speed and battery life. Way more than I was with Windows Mobile on other devices.
