I installed an 8gb micro sd card in the mini sd adaptor, placed the carn in the N810 and I just cant seem to not be in the tablet, when you go into contol panel, and go into memory, there is no sign that the memory is in there, I have tried taking it in and out and rebooting, but still nothing, can anyone help me on this please :-(

Did the adapter come with the card?
Can you see the card on another PC (Windoze, whatever)?

Hi Gemniii..... I put it in my normal pc and it shows the 8gig card, I also formatted it it in the pc with fat 32

Can anyome tell me the normal root on the N810 to see whatever may be on the card, while the card was in the pc I put one jpg photo on it, I don't know if its because I have had a bad day at work, but I am quickly loosing my patience with this device, how hard can it be to find a store/memorycard location on the N810

What brand is it?
There have been some problems with some card brands. For instance I remember A-Data needed a low level format to be used to clone the OS.

Actually I bet you that your problem is how tricky it is to get the SD card seated properly in the N810. You need to use your thumb nail or the tip of the stylus to press the card into the slot until you hear/feel a little click. It's easy to think the card is in correctly because the door shuts and everything.

I have had the card in and out 6 times, it clicks perfectly in place each time, if I put the card in my pc it works fine.

It is a sandisk card so not a cheap run of the mill card.

I am at a loose end now, really peed off to :-)

I know it sounds silly, but if someone else has a card installed on their N810, can you let me know how it is visible on the 810, ie control panel/memory ect so i can check I am doing the right things to access the card

It is visible both in the memory applet of the control panel, file manager and other stuff as Removable something. If properly installed, when you close the lid of the card port, system should automatically detect it and display balloon "Memory card found" or similar.
My own card is 8 GB Sandisk microSD used with a Kingston adapter I bought earlier. Works like a charm.

Nothing happens when I insert the card into the 810 perhaps I have a dodgy adapter, as that is the only common thing that I am using on the the 810, when I put it in the pc, I am using a usb micro sd reader.

So perhaps the adapter is u/s even when I put a 2gig micro sd card in the adapter and put it in the 810 I still don't get anything

I have the same problem, mini sd adaptors made by sandisk don't seem to work (there's a bug on the maemo.org bugzilla about this: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2672). The solution, thus far, is to use a micro to mini adaptor made by someone else.

Thanks Lardman..... thats actually really good news, I was getting really peeed off about it not seeing the card.

I will get a new adapter card at the weekend and have aother go wierd how these things happen
