I have been hunting around the net and not realy finding any themes to speek of other than the ones that Konttori himself has created. I wanted to do some themes myself and dug into ThemeMaker 0.5 today. I got a bit carried away and tried to redo most of the Sourceimage befor trying to build it and couldnt get it to work. So i went back to square one and tried just doing sections at a time.

Is there a repository for themes that has any in it yet?

Anyone else here working on themes?

Most will hate this but here is what i have working so far.

Oh goodness, the colors! The colors! I'd say stick to one cool color at a time. The green kills the blue in the most disturbing way. !_!

The trick to making themes people will actually use (if that is something that is desirable, that is) is to make them good looking without making them interfere with using the device. That's why Apple's Aqua interface is genius - it's beautiful AND it is extremely usable and doesn't waste any space on the screen on useless fribble like thick borders etc that a vast majority of theme designers for the PC slap on their "artistic" efforts.

I haven't actually tried the editor for the 770 and I doubt if you can do much beyond fiddling with colors (I may be wrong) but making a good looking and very usable "skin" for Windows for instance is darn difficult; I could count the good skins I've seen on the net on the fingers of one hand, or something like that.

You can edit over 500 .png files to look however you like. Any stylye or color or picture for that matter that you like. Task bars/ header bar/widgets/window boarders/message boarder/volume control/ if you see it it can be changed, for the most part.

ThemMaker0.5 is an interesting concept it has a sourcetheme.png thats one huge image of all the indevidual (500+ seperate images) on one image, simply edit what you see on that one file. Each element is an exact size on the picture and must stay inside those bounds (the red lines). Save the file and run the thememaker.

Yeah, had to download it and give it a whirl and came here to grovel and apologize for assuming it was that limited.

Meanwhile, it's not entirely effortless to make a new theme. I'll have to see if I can come up with something worthwhile, but with the way my workload looks at the moment I doubt if I'll have the time to spare anytime soon.

I'm guessing this is the best place to announce this...

solid.gold.code has some new themes to check out here.

For those that already have the N800 and want to test the themes. Please let me know if they work for you or not.

    Thanks,
