That needs to be in a sticky on the 810 and buy sell threads.

I'm curious to know what the problem with these adaptors might be. Does anyone know what's inside them? (though I may soon dissect mine as it's not much use as a door stop). Could it be solved in software (presumably the adaptors work for something)?

Likewise, if anyone in the UK could tell me where to buy a working adaptor I'd be very grateful. I got my micro SDHC card (with full size SD adaptor) and a micro adaptor from mobymemory, but they don't seem to do any other types (the micro adaptor is unbranded, but all their cards are Sandisk so it's more than likely the same manuf.)

Mine was from Mobymemory to and the unbranded mini sd adapter was from them too, like Lardman as asked, does anyone know which make adapter they use with micro sd, so O can buy one.

Just one other point I would like to make, when I put the same 8gb sd card in an sd adapter and put it in my laptop, the laptop blue screened on me, and its never done that in 3 years!!! so I don't know if having the 8 gb card in the non branded mini sd adapter, has corrupted the msd card.

I just prised my mini adapter appart, I wish I had taken more care as I didnt realise that all the brass strips would just fall out, if anyone does open one up, stick some sellotape over the brass contacts on the back of the card and rub it hard so the tape really sticks to the contacts, then get a small bladed knife and just insert it and gently twist and the top of the card comes off really easy, I did it without the sellotape and all the brass strips fell out, I think the problem with the card not working, is one or two of the pins may not be in the right possition, as these are not branded adaptors, they are not made as well as braned ones

I put my micro SD in the SD adaptor and it works fine in my N800. So your laptop is probably not SDHC compliant. That would be my guess anyway.

What's in it? Does it just route the contacts or is there a chip or two in there?

I'm using Topram adapter from ebay and it has worked fine for me. Price is also not too shabby...

I've just ordered a Kingston 2Gb card + adaptors for £6.99 so I'll see whether that one works and let every one know. Thanks Mara, but for not much more money I thought I'd get some extra storage too.

Thats odd, but I wouldn't limit to all SanDisk cause I just bought a 2GB SanDisk and slapped it in and boom it works like a charm.

I had the same problen, but after a reboot, the n810 detected the sdcard and I was able to use it.

I don't know if the problem would reappear if I extract the card again, because I did not remove the card since then. I discovered that, in order to transfer files from my PC, is faster to use scp than extracting the card from tne Nokia, putting it in the PC (with a different adapter), write the contents, unmounting it from the PC, and putting it into the n810 again.

I tried the reboot many times and never got any joy getting the N810 to see the card :-(
