Getting an icon image from mmc1 into the hildon directory...

OK. This is driving me slighty crazy.

Filemanager is showing that the qgn_grid_tasknavigator_web.png altered icon .png is on /media/mmc1.

I have to get it copied over to usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/. I have already managed to remove the original qgn_grid_tasknavigator_web.png from there.

Can someone tell me where I am going so terribly, horribly wrong?

    1. I open 'Xterm'

    2. I do the "sudo gainroot" thing

    3. I get the /home/user # and add cd /media/mmc1 so it looks like /home/user # /media/mmc1 and hit 'enter'.

    4. I get /media/mmc1 # and add cp qgn_grid_tasknavigator_web.png /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/ so it looks like /media/mmc1 # cp qgn_grid_tasknavigator_web.png /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon.

I figure at this point, the .png should be moved over to the home folder/directory for icons.

    5. But I'm getting a 'no such file or directory' message. But, like I said, the .png is definitely there, according to Filemanager.

What's really strange is the when I open an empty browser page and type in file://usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/, the directory comes up *without* any qgn_grid_tasknavigator_web.png - but the original icon still appears in the tasknavigator when I choose it from Control Panel - Panels - Task navigator. I haven't a clue where the icon .png is coming from, then, since, in theory, the only copy of the appropriate .png is on mmc1 *and* it's been altered.

I've restarted the N800 a couple of times but nothing's happened except the reappearance of the unaltered icon.

Can someone fill in the missing directions

    weird.

    After that, run:

    rm /usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache
    gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t /usr/share/icons/hicolor

    BTW: Look into pipeline's emelFM2.

    Thanks for that reminder.

With a little bit of tinkering, it worked and now I have translucent icons (and a flower for the contacts icon - I don't know why I did that. I blame the Sinutabs pills I've been taking for this cold... ).

At some point, I seemed to have removed the web icon completely even though the function was still there. That was kinda neat, if a bit excessive.

And now the icons are present but not so glaringly, obviously so.
