I was thinking bout buying this because it is close to my house:
http://www.thenerds.net/BELKIN.Belki...er.F3U142.html

I want it to plug into my n800 so that I can plug in a USB-Ethernet adapter. I am not asking about the the Ethernet part just wanting to know if the adapter will be recognized by my n800. Has anyone used it and is it supported in Host mode? The mini part is supposed to be male and i am assuming by the picture(because it does not show much) that the USB part is female. I was going to plug in a USB to ethernet adapter with a male USB end. How is that setup? And yes the ethernet adapter does have the right chipset.

The full-size end is indeed female. (They are both USB.)

But a careful inspection of the product name or product type reveals that it's a "Type B" connector, so you are less likely to find a cable to connect your NIC to it than directly to the N800.

What does which mean? Ok, I'll try to re-explain the whole thing.

The full-size end is indeed female.
This means that you are correct in your supposition:
i am assuming by the picture(because it does not show much) that the USB part is female.
(They are both USB.)
This means that your terminology is so confused as to render the above assumption completely meaningless, although I was able to guess from context that, after referring to the mini part, you must now be referring to the full-size connector on the other end.
But a careful inspection of the product name or product type reveals that it's a "Type B" connector,
This means that if you had looked at both the page you linked and any decent source of USB enlightenment (even Wikipedia), you'd understand that the full-size USB connector is a type B, full-size connector. (Standard terminology is a B-type receptacle.)
so you are less likely to find a cable to connect your NIC to it than directly to the N800.
This means that, while there is nothing stopping you from using this adapter with another cable, you should really try to find a cable that will work, and perhaps perform a rudimentary economic analysis, before you waste your money on this. You would need a cable (or assembly of cables and/or adapters) that has an A-type receptacle on one end, and a B-type plug on the other. I have never seen such a cable, and while combining
  • a readily available A-type receptacle / A-type receptacle adapter
  • a readily available A-type plug / B-type plug cable
  • (and this B-type receptacle / mini-B-type plug adapter)
would work, it might be slightly more sane to use just
  • the same A-type receptacle / A-type receptacle adapter
  • and the A-type plug / mini-B-type plug cable that came with your N800

I apologize for any lack of clarity, as English is not my second language.
