I've been porting Gene Cash's PIM apps to OS 2008. We have noticed an app startup issue. When the app is started via a dbus call, it opens its window over top of whatever the user was doing at the time. This is annoying and confusing to the user. It would be better for the app to keep its GUI closed in that situation, and then when the dbus messaging is done to exit again.
Is there a way for the app to know why it was started? I'm thinking of it being able to tell if it was started for the purpose of responding to a dbus message or because the user clicked a desktop startup icon. The app is written in python with gtk and hildon, if that makes any difference.
