Just bought a Motorola stereo headset, and although it pairs successfully with my N800 (running OS2008) unfortunately I only get sound in my left ear, when playing videos!
Now, according to the Motorola manual the headset does this when it thinks it's on a call. Is there a way to persuade the N800 to stop impersonating a telephone? Anyone managed to get stereo on a Motorola BT headset?
Basically, there are two standards for transmitting audio via Bluetooth:
-headset/handsfree which provides mono (single channel) sound but is bidirectional (supports microphone) This is what phones use.
- A2DP which is stereo sound. This is ideally what media players use
When Motorola refers to "thinking its connected to a phone", they mean a connection based on the first standard. Unfortunately, the Nokia (out of the box) supports only the headset profile, not the stereo profile. If you want stereo sound, you have to hack the Nokia.
Search for A2DP and you will get the hacking thread and can try A2DP. Not too difficult really - but its not very efficient in terms of power and CPU usage right now.
