Hi,

You might have used the Maemo-publishr tool to upload images to Flickr/Picasa from your nokia tablets.

Recently I rewrote it almost from scratch to have a better UI. You can watch the demo in this video.

Give it a try - download

(It requires python2.5 and python2.5-cairo)

Check out the project website too.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks,
Jayesh

[UPDATE:
Now you can download an updated version 0.6.1 ]

Funny! I just had installed 0.5 two days ago, and I was frustrated because there was no ability to upload a few pictures from a directory without uploading the whole directory. Now you seem to have fixed that, as well as making a very nice interface.

You should mention that the application does not use the virtual keyboard, so you need a hardware keyboard or one of the alternate virtual keyboards available for Maemo. I used the KDE virtual keyboard on my N800 in this picture.

I've got an n800 so will continue using .5 which seems to work great for my picasa uploading needs. I'm glad you posted - I can pass along my thanks! now

Thanks qole, for the virtual keyboard tip (with the picture). The only reason I recommended this for n810 and not for n800, was the virtual keyboard. I don't have n800 to test on, so not sure how a virt. keyboard could be triggered on it. I will investigate more on available virtual keyboards.

If someone tries this on n800 let me know.

How do you get it to use picasa? It only seems to want to use flicker.

Right... I need to wire picasa backend with the new widgets.

I will be adding picasa functionality next. Because of some technical problems with my dev-box, it will take around couple more weeks though.

Thanks for your interest. I will post on this thread once I have an update ready.

This is great. I had started working on a maemo flickr uploader in python but the limits and annoyances with GTK stopped me from finishing it.

Some problems I've been having.
  • PNG files are not recognized, but when the extension is changed to JPG, the file imports and uploads correctly.
  • The text boxes are difficult to use. You can't correct errors without deleting back to the error, and long descriptions or tag lists disappear off the bottom of the text boxes.
