Yeah, I hate to be yet another person starting a wireless problem thread, but here goes...
I am new to the N810 (picked it up Friday), but not to Linux, and I would love it if someone can give me information on getting access to the debug / logs (how to activate etc...); but I will keep looking for info on the net... Also, any information on ways to manually configure wireless through text files might be handy too.
From what I understand, this configuration should work (my university network): WPA2 AES (WPA2-Enterprise), no certificate (open authentication according to my Linux laptop), PEAP EAP-MSCHAPv2, windows domain login (I use DOMAIN\username). The network uses some type of Cisco equipment.
Without WPA2-only (in advanced) I get authentication errors before I get an opportunity to put in my username and password, when I click this box it tells me that the network doesn't support WPA2. I have used just about every option I can think of, but am open to suggestions. I have put in my u/p, used the manual username option, tried require client authentication.
I have successfully connected with a Linux laptop, and have configured endless numbers of Windows laptops (I work part time with student IT support), and I can confirm that the network is indeed WPA2, am I seeing a bug?
As a side note, many handheld devices do not support this network because of the no certificate authentication issue, windows mobile needs a registry hack and is unstable, Nokia (Symbian) says it's a bug it doesn't tell you it can't use a certificate and Palm is in a similar situation. I also have the option to use a parallel network, but it uses 802.1X WEP, which is not supported by the N810.
Anyway, I thought I'd ask here before I went further, and I'm hoping it's just me mis-configuring something.
