After being a convert to the N800 for over a year I'm now ready to explode! I can't download any applications, or update any applications on my N800, since the 26th April. I've got plenty of space, I've hard reset my N800, I've removed and reinstalled catalogue data and generally fiddled about, but I'm at a complete loss. And Application Manager is now crashing more than running.

Any help? or is this the end of my n800?

    BT

I'm also suffering with the same problem...
It gets stalled at "downloading 1kb"
I think that the repositories are having some troubles nowadays.
Hope that they correct it ASAP.

And no, it isn't our fault, a lot of people are going through this problem since last week.
    That's lame.

Just for troubleshooting, my device is a N800, just reflashed it two times with the LATEST OS2008 version, doing different installations and having the same problem.

Well, BigTony, you really haven't provided any useful troubleshooting information (did you get an error? if so, what did the error say? etc) but at a guess, I'm going to say your internal card is corrupted and needs to be reformated.

    @GeneralAntilles

    Please, stop guessing.
Try to update your catalogue and see what happens.
Suddenly a lot of people are having the same problem, and IT'S NOT EACH TABLET'S PROBLEM.
    It's something with the catalogues/repositories.
Try and tell us what you get. Uninstall your Canola, or Skype and reinstall, with OS2008.

I'm not sure why you think you have the same problem (there's certainly no way you could arrive at that conclusion based on the information provided in the first post), but it certainly doesn't sound like it to me.

Works just fine. I just updated Modest to W19 and installed fMSX without any troubles.

Is it not? You have some sort of magical troubleshooting method to arrive at this conclusion?

According to my own experience, apparently not.

Thanks, but no. I'll wait for BigTony to get back and provide some more information. For the time being, I'm sure he'd appreciate it if you cut the thread jacking to a minimum and didn't jump down the throat of the one guy trying to help him out.

It seems that some of the repositories are always having problems, the solution I found is to just keep trying...

This has been the case since I got my NIT. Sometimes all is fine and other times it might take a week to get a successful pass. Vagarities of the net probably also figure in. Incredibly rarely seen problem in either debian or ubuntu but nokia(?) seems to have unresolvable problems in this department. Just consider it part of the adventure :-).

Yes, it is a PITA, but that seems to come with the NITs :-/.

Sorry for my brief post but I was typing on my N800 and getting annoyed a the same time.

Ok, here is whats happening. Each time I select either a new application, or an update to an existing application, application manager opens up, it starts to download and it either stalls at the downloaded (i.e. the messgae box says downloaded 171kb, the progress bar is full, and nothing happens) or the error is 'application failed to install. I decided to remove an existing application and re-install it, and i couldn't re-install it (usb control).
I also can't connect to my PC using USB, it always comes up with memory card in use.

So it might be the internal memory card? or the internal memory of the device?
Guess I should try a backup and a fresh sd card.

Seriously, what is the problem with the Nokia N800?

I just received my new unit from Tiger Direct (I gave my old one to my brother in law). I have to keep removing the battery because this dang thing keeps locking up on me:

    1) Can't allocate virtual memory - it freezes
    2) Can't download thru application manager -- freezes

I tried reverting to the prior OS2008 version and it's just as bad.

It seems that there are many complaints here. Do I have a buggy unit or is this the state of affairs with the N800 at the moment?

At least with OS2007, this thing was usable.

I had this problem before and it seems it was one or more reps. that were not responding for one reason or another or were duplicated in my list, I redid my list of repos, and was careful not to add them twice it was a while ago but I did fix it...(knock on wood)

I love my n800 (os2008) and I have found most of the time when its acting goofy its most often something I did, reflashing seems to clear it up...
Most of my issues come from trying to install everything I can find and that one time I upgraded everything in red pill mode(or was It blue pill, gotta rewatch the matrix, I never can recalll which is which)
