im trying to play .avi videos and the audio plays fine but the video is just still pictures. are the videos to large or something.

Could you post the size/framerate/bitrate/resolution of the .avi videos in question?
or perhaps a link to the video itself if you're streaming or downloading from the web?

If the res is larger than about 400x240, you probably want a reencoder such as Nokia's Internet Tablet Video Converter or
tablet-encode
.

Sounds like the bitrate or resolution is too high. Run them through Nokia Video Converter or tablet-encode first.
