    Hi -

I have an N800 with an enternal BT GPS (no name brand with the latest chipset).

wayfinder and maemo mapper find my bt device all by themselves - but roadmap couldnt, and didnt give me any messages.

When I connected the gps to wayfinder - roadmap and the roadmap gps display tool then found the gps just fine. If I disconnect wayfinder - it looses the connection.

Anyway - once over that hurdle and downloading the map set for florida wasnt too problematic.

Tried it on the way to work yesterday and I had to manually get the maps refreshed. That is if I left the unit running - the gps point would go off the map - and the map would not auto refresh.

Anyone else seeing this? Did I miss a config option somewhere? "G"/satelite button as descibed earlier did not seem to do anything. Will retry on the way home tonight.

Screen update speed - cpu utilization did not seem to be an issue.

    Ed

EDIT: Solved. My MMC card was going bad. After I pointed the maps to another card, started being much more responsive.

N800 running 2008. Love to try this out, but I'm finding it unbearably slow at the point of hanging. I can browse through one or two options before it hangs and I have to force quite.

    Any suggestions?

Starting using this a bit more. I like it, its much more accurate then Memo Mapper. Few Questions:
    1. How do I switch to OSM maps? I downloaded them, but they appear to look like the same Tiger maps. I don't see an option to switch maps, just download

    2. Every now and then I get an error "GPS Lost Satellite Fix". Then the only way to reconnect to the GPS is to restart Roadmap. Is there another way?

    Thanks for the port!!

Roadmap will display both maps at once. This can result in streets being double labeled or other weird looking screen artifacts when you have both maps for an area. Since the OSM maps are based upon tiger data, the roads will be in the same palce except where OSM maps have been error-corrected. Also, some features (like address lookup) only work with Tiger maps ATM. What I do bis use the Tiger maps in the places I travel frequently(mainly the southwest), and download OSM maps on the fly as I need them for other areas. BTW, currently we're working out some server side issues with OSM support. So it's down. But it should be ironed out soon.

When GPS loses satellite fix, you get a message. When it reconnects you don't. The best way to see whether you've got a fix is to look at the satellite icon on the left side of the screen. If it's-

    1. Crossed out- No connection to GPSD
    2. Red- Connected to GPSD, no location fix.
    3. Yellow- marginal fix.
    4. Green- Good 3D fix.
