I like the calculator that comes with the basic set-up but the downside is that if I need to enter numbers from, say, a web page, I have to constantly toggle between the two apps.
Is there some ''floating'' calculator app out there that is moveable and can be put on top of a web browser or notes app so I can do calculations using info from a separate app window beneath it?
Or maybe something like the Xword app (the great crossword puzzle app) that has toolbar layout preferences (i.e. layout letters on left or right) but instead would include a very simple calculator not much bigger than, say, the N800's onscreen number pad and the rest of the app window is just completely transparent so the app underneath is clearly visible and I can input the numbers?
It seems like such a logical app to have but damned if I can find something like this... .
Probably not an option if you are not using KDE for Maemo, but TiEmu (and any other calculator) is resizable and able to float on top of other windows.
"Floating" windows seem to be kinda tricky in the matchbox window manager... and KDE doesn't require flashing with another linux, it's simply another window manager that runs in your current maemo os
You still boot into OS 2008 on the SD card (though there's now a deb package to allow booting directly into KDE). KDE is a icon in the Application menu that you can launch like any other Maemo Linux application. Once KDE is running, you will have access to a whole lot of new KDE applications and still be able to run the applications installed in OS 2008. I love this setup sooo much!
