    Garnet VM and linux

I don't have a Windows machine. I have a perfectly good Fedora box which does all I want.

But it seems if what I want includes syncing things with the Garnet VM, maybe it doesn't do what I want.

I specifically want to manage passwords with the Illium Software Ewallet. I used to use this on Windows Mobile, that version seems to be a lot more versatile than the Palm version. The Palm version seems to be read only - can't create a wallet, can't delete an entry, can't do much of anything. You have to do the hard work on the PC and sync it.

What are my options for Linux? Worth trying to run the Windows version of EWallet under WINE? But does hotsync work under WINE? Multisync?

Sounds like you have two questions. First and most important is hotsync. Check out jpilot, and seach the forums for tips on how to sync over the network. I saw that the other day but don't remember exactly what it was. Anyway for searching, look for jpilot and sync, you should find it.
And secondly, there are some other wallet programs you can try such as STRIP or KeePass.
    Hope this helps.

    I'll check jpilot.

I'm not a palm user, so know nothing at all about how palm syncs or does things. I used ewallet on the iPaq and liked it. I don't really want to fire up Garnet for passwords but as the only password prog I found usable so far on the tablet is password safe (tried the other2) I was hoping for something with more features,.

And hoping that I didn't have to hand copy all the stuff over from ewallet

Looks like I'll have to write a translation prog from ewallet to passwordsafe. I find the way Garnet insists on taking over very annoying, and can't work out how to launch listpro or ewallet on their own per another thread.

For synchronisation with jpilot, enter "net:" as your port in jpilot and it should listen for network hotsyncs instead of usb/serial.

I also second the recommendation for "STRIP" on PalmOS:

However, yes, it is a little tedious to go through GarnetVM. Unfortunately, IT doesn't have anything remotely as usable as hotsync for off-device backups.

    Hi,

Glad you are using eWallet! You assessment of the Palm functions aren't entirely accurate. Although you can only sync one wallet file to the Palm OS devices, you can create entries, delete entries, etc. It is fully functional. It does have a few limits but if you're having trouble getting it to do some of these things let the support folks know ( support@iliumsoft.com or 888-632-5388).

Unfortunately, this I can't help with, although I have heard other users say they've gotten it to work so I believe it is possible!

    Thanks
