I've searched but have not found any sound recorders with this feature, so I'm throwing it out here.

What I'm primarily looking for is a sound recording app that will automatically start recording when there is noise and then stop after a small amount of time after the noise is done, much like old mini-cassette recorders. I looked at maemo-recorder but it is a very basic recorder with no options for this (that I saw).

Thanks for any help and sorry if there was a very obvious solution I've missed.

There's a compiled sox version for os2008 (search in the carwhisperer thread), i don't know about 2007HE.
