Will somebody please help me how I can update my OS for supporting
IPv6?
I have seen a couple of things in 2006 application catalog.
1. busybox with ipv6,iproute,netcat,ping,ping6,telnet,traceroute and wget
This is replacement for OS2006 busybox. Install from xterm "dpkg -i <package.deb>" as root. Additional to orginal: IPv6 is enabled and support for iproute, nc (netcat), ping, ping6, telnet, traceroute and wget is also compiled in. For ipv6 to work you also need to flash the device with kernel-image supporting IPv6 (such as image in Kernel Images -category below).
2. Linux Nokia770-26 + IPv6 + NFS v3 client support
This is replacement for OS2006 kernel. Additional to orginal: IPv6
support is compiled in and so is NFS v3 client. Flash with "flasher-2.0 -k <imagename> -f -R".
So I do not understand what flasher-2.0 -k <imagename> -f -R" means?
I have WindowsXP machine. So will somebody provide me
step by step procedures for doing this as well as rsks if any.
flasher-2.0 -k <imagename> -f -R is the linux version of the flasher (command line based) flasher-2.0 is the command used.
For you to be able to use it you would have to use some kind of linux installation. You should be able to use a livecd.
I recommend you to check out the wiki at www.maemo.org before doing any replacement of the kernel on your device, so you will have a bit more information and comprehension of the subject.
The flasher reputedly works with the Browser appliance (right side of the page), which is Ubuntu 5.10 with only Firefox installed, but why deprive yourself of the opportunity to bask in the pleasant glow of Linux by not installing the Whole Thing <TM>? Look at what's on offer at Virtual Appliances!
