I thought this might help, but no:

By the way, I don't have a Paypal account. Should I?
Update the deb with the icons working. I am conflicted, I really want it working without matchbox, in another window manager. Its still running under matchbox, ARGH!!!...

That said, the brief testing I did, on my own, (I have still not tried your deb) It works pretty darn good So how can I not pay you for giving me what I wanted. I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I know its not a lot of money, but I will pay 25$ via paypal to the person who can get microb working in KDE.

    kbrowser-0_2-2_armel.deb [FileFactory] [maemobox] [qole.org]
Here is the new kbrowser .deb file. The icons now work. I fixed the browser line to read:

    Code:
    sudo su - user -c "DISPLAY=:1; browser"
I don't have any dependencies in this package, but it really does depend on two packages in the maemo extras repository: libxmu6 and libice6. You can install these via red pill mode, or get root and do:

    Code:
    apt-get install libxmu6 libice6
You only need these packages if you want the browser window to read, "MicroB Browser" instead of "Xephyr on Display :1 blah blah blah". I would recommend it, it looks much nicer, and it makes more sense.

    ... Waiting for feedback ...

Well I just upgraded to diablo, now I got to get KDE up and running. I hope bootmenu is gonna be updated soon

I am really hoping this is still gonna work, they changed some things it seems with the browser. I am wondering if this is even needed still, or if this still works. Man that would suck

You heard it (speculated) here first!

OTOH, maybe if I'd just installed KDE instead of posting that, I'd be $60 richer...

I think if you PM me your email address I can get it to you. Dont worry, be happy. My intent was two fold, one to get the browser working without matchbox, and the other generating interest in hacking on this wonderful toys

I created the bounty, and you spent your time trying to get it working, and you did, in a pretty neat way.

The money I am sending is money that was donated to me, so no sweat. Just keep doing what your doing. Its fun isn't it

I'll PM you my e-mail, but I'll offer you a barter solution. You can help me, or pay me, or pay me half and help me a bit... whatever you want.

I really need an experienced shell scripter's help getting my easy debian chroot package put together. I'm really close, but it needs a bit of spit-and-polish before it is ready to be released to the "masses".

Like your KDE package, my package uses a big image file that is mounted by a script. I need to make the initial post-download untarring as easy as possible, with as little use of the command line as possible. I also want to make the postinst and chroot scripts as fool-resistant as possible.

I want newbies to be able to run OpenOffice, AbiWord, and FireFox with Java. My ultimate goal is to let non-guru-types install anything their hearts desire and play around with it. You want to try out Evolution because you've got an Exchange server you just have to have access to? Or you would love to do some batch image processing with ImageMagick but you don't want to hunt all over the 'net for the Maemo packages? Just fire up Synaptic, install the packages, and go!

    So the help I need:
    • Really easy-to-use, newbie-oriented script(s) to untar the image file to a specified place, catching and dealing with problems (no bzip2 package installed? maybe "apt-get install bzip2" for the user and try again)
    • Clean up the chroot script, make it more flexible and problem-resistant (check to see if the chroot is already mounted, etc)
    • Optionally, get the right mouse click mapped to the + HW key using this hack
