    hello
    i've a problem with diablo, don't know why, but now, if i start microb, it show a white page and a popup message "waiting...".
    On irc someone told me to start the daemon tablet-browser-daemon, this solved...partially since at every reboot i must manually start it, any idea on how to solve this ?
    Anyone with this problem ?

    thanks.

    no, AFAIK, it downloads satellite ephemeris data from a server which allows it to update it's almanac much quicker than by scanning the sky in hope of finding satellites.

    the data rate on GPS is very low, so that it takes at least a minute to receive the full set of data, and if you're moving it's very easy to have to start all over if the signal gets blocked or corrupted, so getting a fast fix is made much easier if you can download it over a fast link.

    of course I might be wrong

    > so, when do you think there will be a DIABLO-HE for 770 users who don't want to be left behind?

    I posted that very question on the Maemo ML when the release was announced... we'll see :-)

    Hi Locutus - I accidentally managed to do the same thing this morning.

    ls /etc/rc*/*browser*

    This should list all of the rc.d entries for the tablet browser daemon. (it's likely that one of them is missing, probably /etc/rc2.d/S99tablet-browser-daemon)
    to put it back type (as root):

    ln -s /init.d/tablet-browser-daemon /etc/rc2.d/S99tablet-browser-daemon

    You can find out more about debian run-levels here, but what each run level corresponds to might be slightly different for maemo.

    ls -la /etc/rc*/*browser*
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jun 26 12:11 /etc/rc0.d/K20tablet-browser-daemon -> ../init.d/tablet-browser-daemon
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jun 26 12:11 /etc/rc1.d/K20tablet-browser-daemon -> ../init.d/tablet-browser-daemon
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jun 26 12:11 /etc/rc2.d/S20tablet-browser-daemon -> ../init.d/tablet-browser-daemon
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jun 26 12:11 /etc/rc3.d/S20tablet-browser-daemon -> ../init.d/tablet-browser-daemon
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jun 26 12:11 /etc/rc4.d/S20tablet-browser-daemon -> ../init.d/tablet-browser-daemon

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jun 26 12:11 /etc/rc6.d/K20tablet-browser-daemon -> ../init.d/tablet-browser-daemon

    they seems to be all here :-?
    (thanks anyway)

    edit: i have removed it (upate-rc.d -f tablet-browser-daemo remove) and stopped it,
    then readded with update-rc.d tablet-browser-daemon defaults but, after reboot,
    daemon is still NOT running :-| seems to be a bug, or coflict with something at boot....

    edit2: ok, i've removed and than readded the daemon BUT with the s99 prefix, now it
    does start correctly, seems that S20 doesn't like very much to that daemon
    (i think it conflicts with ssh daemon since it have the same prefix S20).

    It might be that the S20 would start it too early, and something it relies upon hasn't been started yet, so it terminates.
    Glad you got that bit working now though.

    Face it...Diablo was released prematurely...it seems to be chock-full-of-bugs.

    I've completely erased my N800 and put a fresh install in and started setting things up without any "special" customizations.

    Bugs encountered so far:

    1. web browser loses homepage
    2. web browser dialog boxes pop up but taps on letters do not enter them into the pages
    3. random error messages in browser
    4. attempts at using memory cards for extending cache result in more frequent and dramatic errors. These cards worked fine for the previous OS2008.
