I'm attempting to put an AC/DC Live At Donnington DVD on to my N810.
Using DVD Shrink, I end up with .VOB files. Nokia Media converter will not accept these VOB files unless I change the file extension to .mpg/ mp2 or some such.
Having done this, a double click on my desktop loads them to Windows Media player and they play fine with sound.
I then drop them to Nokia Media Converter which takes the renamed .mpg file without complaint, converts it to good video and when copied to my N810 plays it nicely. Except, no sound.
Has anyone else come across this? Other files I have copied, my own movies in .avi or .mov have converted with sound.
I'm also surprised that other people don't mention the need to change the file extension from VOB to mpg before NMC will accept it. Or does it accept VOB in other people's setups?
Can you play the converted file in windows with sound?

Well if you just change the file extension the audio stream is not getting changed.
In a DVD the audio is usually ac3 and I do not know if Nokia Media converter well convert.
That is my only thought. I use Mediacoder to convert my movies.
Yes, the sound is there in the converted file. As I say, no-one mentions that Nokia Media Converter doesn't accept VOB files in that I'd have thought that was what most people would be converting.
can you file a bug about it at https://bugs.maemo.org? It'd be great to get a *small* sample of the original file (i.e., the file you're feeding ITVC) so we can figure out why there's no sound being converted.
I'm reluctant to file a bug until I'm sure it is the ITVC V0.32 that's at fault so I'll continue to hunt around until I'm sure, Some DVDs have converted successfully for me, after all.

No, right now ITVC won't take VOB files directly, although if you'd like to file it as a feature request, it's not a bad idea. Of course ripping DVDs directly can't be supported in ITVC due to DVD encryption issues.
What files does the Nokia Video Converter support? In other words, if I am just starting the process, what format should I rip my media to for it to work with the converter? I read the Nokia site and it wasn't apparent to me.
