Just found the Abiword download. For anyone intersted it can be found here:

First select the OS2008
Next in the search field put "Abiword"
It will show Rick Brent's repositories
Check on the select option and install button.

It installed without asking for additional libraries on diablo, but previously had to install 5 libs for Gnumeric. If it asks for libraries, it may require some commands on XTerminal, and before that, to get access to the root.

Finally, got it working after about 30 mins...plus the few hours previously...downed links , incomplete guidance (unless you are in the know )...had to use the 1st select all, not the last one for Abiword.....
