I have seen many threads on this, but none (that I have seen) link to a place to get a USB host (ie, microUSB male to USB-A female) cables. Where is it recommended to get such a thing?

For those of you familiar with the Zaurus Cxx00 series, I'm looking for the equivalent N810 cable.

I'd prefer a short cable to an adapter to reduce the strain on the USB port (a perpendicular dongle would be OK, though).

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere already. I only searched briefly, and, if nothing else, this thread will direct newbies like myself to where to purchase the correct cable.

Thanks.

This is my setup which works perfectly, it automatically puts the N810 into host mode when you plug it in:

I use a
MicroUSB to MiniUSB then plug a MiniUSB to USB adapter into that. It's a little long (3 inches) but works beautifully

Hope this helps

EDIT: Oh and the whole setup cost under US $15

Yes, it is alway best to start a new thread after a brief search, rather than adding to established threads. That way the next time someone searches there will be more threads to wade thru.

I use what's mentioned in this very old thread
from yesterday. with a female to female adapter.

So there is no single cable that does it?

Yes, only for N800, a female A to a mini male 5pin. Have not seen one for the N810.

For anyone who's curious/interested I'll be offering a package solution (same one as mentioned by josiahg777) for the N810 that will include the "Micro-USB to Mini0USB dongle cable" along with one of the N800 OTG adapters. This will allow you to effectively have plug-and-play OTG on the N810, same as the N800. I finally managed to track down a reasonable supplier of the dongle cables, so the costs for the whole package should be somewhere around $12.

There was someone who offered to make them up, I'll see if I can find that thread again. The keyword to search for is 'OTG'

This might not be what you want but there seems to be a wiki for this. N810_MicroB_to_MiniB_Plus_easy_OTG_host_mode

This cable works great with the N800,no adapters required. Tested so far with an 8gb thumb drive, 8 in 1 Card Reader, 500gb Hard drive, and an external DVD drive. All worked perfectly.

Thanks all! It just hit me last night that I already have the mini-B to A cable, so all I need is the micro- to mini-B cable. I'm considering getting two of them to mod one into a straight micro-USB to USB cable (those USB extension cables are good for something after all...).
