I am writing a script using gps. I can start gps using the following from a bash script:

/usr/libexec/navicore-gpsd-helper

And I can kill it with

kill "$(pidof /usr/sbin/gpsd)"

But I cannot get the little satellite icon in the systray to disappear when I kill the gpsd. Any ideas how to do that?
