Ugh! Installed Diablo and lost my apps?!

I just installed Diablo, and when I was restoring my apps from the backup, almost all of them are grayed out. WTF? Is this normal? This can't be right.

And there are hardly ANY apps available to install in the Application Manager! (I see that it's possible to add catalogs, but I don't know the addresses of any catalogs. I know, I'm a noob. I guess with chinook the catalogs must have been added for me at some point, because I know I never manually added a catalog but there were LOTS of apps available.)

Also, so much for the "settings" being backed up. I had to set up my email account again, and who knows what other settings I've lost...

    Not impressed.

you must be new to the whole flashing routine. you will lose all installed applications. Luckily you should be able to get them all back though (as far as I know). You probably only need to add one or two repositories to see what you want, I will list them or point you in the right direction if someone else doesn't soon; I need to go to sleep.

True, the only other time I updated was when I got the tablet and installed OS2008.

If I add the other repositories, will I be able to restore the grayed-out apps from my backup? It would be nice to not have to download and install them again one by one.

How many catalogs do you have installed in the list right now after the diablo flash?

you should be able to add "chinook diablo" to the line distribution in all your catalog repositories to recover most if not all the applications that you lost. This should allow a mass re-installation of all your applications. Once you've done that, I'd remove chinook and just leave diablo in the line distribution; that way programs like Canola 2 maemo 2 and its addon's will also be updated. I learned all this the hard way.

I'd probably also read the diablo installation threads on the forum as well. It'll provide you with a wealth of knowledge.

Okay, I think I know what the problem was. The maemo extras catalog was broken. I guess the site was down or something, but it was listed in red and there was an error message saying it couldn't access the address or something. It's working now (I actually re-added it), and almost all of my apps from my backup became available. So maybe I was just unlucky and happened to flash my tablet at time when there was a problem with that catalog. I dunno.
