I also have an N810, but bought mine because a co-worker got an N800 and I thought it was a great platform.
Threw it on my Dell account, but they didn't have the N800.

I have zero regrets, but very well might have gotten an N800 if I could have simply because it's a bit less expensive at this point.

Do you all that have used both find there is any difference in general stability?

I don't think there is any difference in overall stability between the N800 and N810, but I've only used the N800.

I paid $400 for my N800 in January 2007; if I was getting a tablet now and had the same amount of money available I'd get the N810, mainly because of the keyboard. I have a bluetooth keyboard but it is always a hassle for me to use considering my chaotic lifestyle. I like the virtual keyboard just fine, but some applications (such as Labyrinth, a mind-mapping program) require a real keyboard. It would be nice to have a gps as part of the tablet -- I actually have two gps devices, which cost me about $70 each, but I don't always take them with me.

If you really want an FM radio on your tablet, you have to get the N800.

The N800 is just plain unusable outdoors under many conditions, so that's another argument for the N810.

So you can download a gps app for the N800?

Do you know if the N800 is hard to see outside?

It depends on how thick the undergrowth is. In open field one can easily spot it from quite a distance.



OK, sorry. The N800's screen does wash out rather badly in sunlight, up to a point where even the brightest setting won't help. Allegedly the screen of the N810 is better, but this apparently depends on the person, as wildly varying reports circulate in this forum.

In my opinion, iPod Touch is a better MP3 player and SIMPLE web browser. Why, because it was meant to play music, has a better output (louder), more battery life while playing music, etc...

Of course, the tablet is better for a lot more, like the full internet, SIP calling, typing, note taking, car integration, GPS etc...

Hard Choice!

I can't imagine why you'd need a louder lineout, but I can't resist pointing out that my N800 has much louder speakers. And I'm actually listening to mine right now with the speakers, so to me that's better.

The battery life is one thing going for the iTouch, though. I nearly ran out while geohashing today (with N800 providing tunes, maps, and yelling directions), and I'd forgotten my charger.

That's where having two N800s and booting from SD helps, though.
