Yes, it works. But you must put poi.jpg in location, defined in Settings / POI / POI database (/home/user/.maemo-mapper/ by default). And not simply at location, where you found poi.db (for ex. /media/mmc1/maps/, where you keep maps, and old copy of poi.db may lasts).

I think I have it right. When I go to Settings > POI, POI database is set to /media/mmc1/maps/poi.db and the location of poi.jpg is /media/mmc1/maps/poi.jpg.

I tried putting the .db and .jpg in the default location, as well as other locations, nothing seemed to work.

I got it to work with specific to a category. I haven't been able to test yet where the error was. The only things right now I know for sure I did different;y is I used a .png file I used a .jpg file, and I used the method for changing a categories icon.

I am also having an issue with getting custom icons. I'm using WinGEO to create a poi.db for geocaching, I placed the GEO and GEO-FOUND jpegs in the dir with the poi.db and changed the path in the settings and they will not show up, this worked with an older version of maemo-mapper.

My replacement poi jpegs are also .png files, with their extensions renamed.

This page also seems to indicate that you need to use PNG files, renamed to JPG.
