    libc6 and zlib1g download-- where????

I'm having trouble getting Application Manager to work (refer to other thread) so I have to download every single package and its dependents manually for now. I need locations for libc6 and zlib1g, and Google is absolutely useless. I can't find one single helpful link. Any ideas where I can get these?

EDIT: six views and no answer? Ouch. I get the feeling more and more that the 770 just is not ready for prime time... :/

libc6 is the standard C runtime library. It is a vital part of the OS and is therefore included.
zlib1g is a commonly used data compression library. I expect that's included too.

BTW, what are you trying to install?

Just confirmed it. Both of those libraries are included, preinstalled in OS2006.

Tip: use "dpgk -s packagename" to check whether a package is installed.

I'm trying to install dropbear. It says it can't install because those libraries are missing. I never deleted them.

    ????

I have done numerous terrible things to my 770, but this one is new to me.

Regardless, those libs are available in the Maemo repositories and can be fetched via apt-get. That said, I think your problems are probably more extraordinary than that...

If even essential, standard packages appear missing (which they obviously are not, the OS won't work without them), then there is probably something seriously wrong with the package manager. This would also explain your problems with the application manager.

If two 770's have been affected, it could be that your image file was corrupted when downloaded.

I suggest you re-download the latest firmware image. As far as I am aware, there is only one OS 2006 image.

My need is due to Application Manager not being able to access any repositories. This problem is occurring on two tablets that have been flashed twice with 2006 OS.

Mallard has an interesting thought, except that I had already successfully used this image once before. However, knowing well that crap happens, it could have still become corrupted. Thanks for the suggestion mallard.

EDIT: downloaded the image again, reflashed (4th time on one device now) and still the same stinking error. Application Manager just flat cannot download updates no matter what I do! How can I be the only one experiencing this, and on 2 devices that were both able to do so previously???
