When i first received nokia n810 pda I installed the camera application. I successfully tested it once. Then I upgraded the firmware, reinstalled the camera application and since then I get the message: "camera unavailable ...". I reinstalled the original version of the firmware and the problem insisted. There is no /dev/video0 device file and if I create it manually with mknod, it doesn't work. Do you have any idea?

Thanks

The message flashes very quickly but looks like it says

Camera Unavailable
some other application may be using it

Which camera application, there are several.
I use Camera v 3.5 w/ Diablo, just fine.

Camera 3.5 under Diablo.

This seems to be a camera subsystem problem since neither GPS Camera, Camera 3.5 or aMSN are able to use the camera.

I've shutdown and restarted multiple time, no other camera app is open, and have been careful not to install much new apps from outside the standard repo.

The only one I haf to do anything weird to get installed was aMSN which required Red Pill mode to get installed.

I've heard others use the same release fine under Diablo though.

I just reflashed back to Chinook from Diablo, set up Wifi key, installed Camera 3.5 and the problem persists. I did not resume and setting backups.

No /dev/video0 device present when /dev is examined.
I created one using the usual means before reflashing as well with no change in behavior.

We'll need more information to help.

Go into terminal
Code:
dmesg | grep video
My camera is working fine and I get the following as output:
Code:
omap24xxcam opap24xxcam registered device video0 [v412]
What do you all get?

dmesg | grep video

Returns nothing

Thanks.

How about
Code:
dmesg | grep omap24xxcam
You may need to do either of those after a reboot - the dmesg log in the n800 looks a bit short.
Once we know the error message we can google it and bug-report it (if no obvious solution)
