I still don't understand how updating flash (internal build in memory) would update a boot from SD partition. Maybe the kernel yes. But individual packages should have to be updated on both the flash and SD correct?

After updating uname still shows:

Well, mine is on an N800, so it's unsurprising that it's N800, and that it was built at a different time on a different machine (evidently in a different timezone); but the fact that Thaldyron's is from July rather than something close to September 30th makes it look like his kernel did not get updated...
(Oh, I just realized I have got an updated kernel for rotation -- still, something Septemberish should be correct on either platform, I'd think...)
